Why Join a Church?

Why do the Oklahoma Sooners all wear the same uniform? To Identify that they are all on the same team. Why do married people wear wedding rings? To symbolize their commitment to a partner. Why do we Christians get baptized? To go public with our faith in Jesus Christ.

In the same way, church membership identifies your willingness to formally and publicly align with the vision, mission, values, and beliefs of The Lord’s Harvest Community Church.

Experience shows that membership benefits the individual. In a culture where commitment is no longer highly valued, recognizable membership is an important step that moves each of us off the sidelines and into the game. It is letting the church leadership know, “You can count on me.” Members typically feel more ownership in the church. They feel like shareholders rather than spectators. They usually find it easier to connect with others and build lasting relationships.

So, while you won’t receive an engraved plaque or a reserved parking spot when you become a member, you will draw great satisfaction from knowing that you are a part of something bigger than yourself, something eternal. We want you to partner with us in reaching our world for Jesus Christ.

There are at least three different ways to join The Lord’s Harvest Community Church. You can indicate your desire to join by filling out the back of a Guest Card during one of our worship services. Just turn the card in during the offering. Or you can attend “Catch the Vision”, our membership info classes. Or just contact Pastor Juan, by email or by calling 405.706.8201

FAQ

Welcome to all Guest. To assist you if you are planing to be our guest for one of our services. We are always happy to have visitors and we will be happy to have you come worship with us. We hope you will find a family friendly atmosphere and that it will be uplifting to your soul.

Who are we?
The Lord’s Harvest Community Church is a new church with a BIG heart for people of all ages and backgrounds. Whoever you are you are assured a very warm welcome at The Lord’s Harvest.

When to arrive:
If it’s your first visit then it’s probably best to turn up around 2:45 pm. For directions to reach us please see the Contact Us page. You’ll be greeted by Pastor Juan personally at the door or by one of our welcoming members who will give you some information about the church. Please fill out your Guest Card and place it in the offering during that period of worship.

What to wear:
This is easy. Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. We are an informal church and accept people as they are. There is no need to dress up to try and be someone that you’re not. Whether you come as a suited businessman or a ghetto boy that is fine with us (the pastor seldom wears a suit).

What to expect:
For some people going anywhere for the first time can be a bit of a nerve-racking experience. To help avoid any worries here’s a quick summary of what you can expect at Harvest. First of all we aren’t super-spiritual beings, we all had a ‘first day’ at church, you’ll find we are a friendly bunch, if you don’t understand something please simply ask. We start our meeting at 3:00 pm with a song, prayer, and scripture. Our worship time consists of modern songs (with words on a screen). We then have a talk from the bible that is relevant and meaningful to our modern lives. Our aim is that whether you are just looking into Christianity for the first time or have been a Christian for many years that you should be encouraged and inspired by the day. We hope that everyone will draw closer to God.

What we believe:
We are a Christian church and believe that all can have relationship with God. We believe this relationship with God is possible because of Jesus (God’s only son) who invites us to follow him. We have friendly relationships with other local churches from both traditional and modern backgrounds. If you are interested in exploring the Christian faith then please come along on a Saturday or contact the office to ask for a free booklet.

If you have any other questions feel free to call us at (405) 706-8201 or e-mail us via our contact page.

Our Objective

The objective of this ministry is to build people of Purpose, Prayer, Power, Praise and Prosperity. This mandate is being fulfilled by teaching the reality of the gospel in a simplistic fashion, and as a result we are learning how to apply it to our everyday living. Our goal is to teach God’s Holy Word in an uncompromised fashion so that purposes can be revealed and destinies fulfilled.

God gave Dr. Barrientez a vision to build a distinctively different church in this city, where people would be taught and given an example of holiness, excellence, character, and integrity. This born-again and Spirit-filled church is to have an emphasis on building men and women with a God-conscience so that they function as individuals, husbands, wives, and parents in a manner that glorifies God and impacts this generation.

Our goal is to reach the hurting and the lost with the message of faith and a loving touch to help men and women overcome challenges in life. Our goal is to minister to the whole man so that he can be a light to the whole world.

Vision 4 Harvest

The VISION of this church is based on Matthew 9:37-38, Jesus was speaking to his disciples and said,

The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.

What is to be noted is that the laborers work for the Lord of the harvest, and are not independent of him. The vision is the driving force of a great work, for the scripture says “the harvest is truly plentiful” and expresses the magnitude of the labor set before us. The harvest should be gathered from the field and sent back into the field as a harvester.

The vision of this church is one of multiplication and reproduction, Preparing God’s People for the Harvest.

We Will Build Community in Christ

Pastor Juan P. Barrientez II was born February 20, 1975 to Juan and Vanessa Barrientez. Although he grew up in church, once he became a teenager he begin doing life his way. The Bible declares in Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Being raised in the church did lay a foundation for the word of God to be manifested in his life. It was one Sunday afternoon in April of 1998 while watching Bishop Charles E. Blake Pastor of West Angeles COGIC, that he truly repented. Now the founding pastor of The Lord’s Harvest Community Church, recognizes that within the body of Christ, “We DO Life Together.”

Pastor Barrientez preached his first sermon at Good Shepherd Missionary Baptist Church, pastored by Anne M. Printers, in September of 2002 and was licensed into “The Gospel Ministry” November 3, 2002. He was immediately entrusted to serve as Acting Pastor of Shield of Faith Missionary Baptist Church during his Father/Pastor’s illness. He served in this position for about 6 months over a two-year period. With plenty of opportunity to minister locally in Oklahoma City he was officially ordained December 11, 2005. He united with the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International in November 2006.

Pastor Barrientez’s educational credentials include,

  • Honorary Doctor of Divinity
  • Doctor of Religious Education
  • Master of Divinity

  • Bachelor of Ministry

He is also currently working on a combined Master/Doctorate of Pastoral Theology from Andersonville Theological Seminary, and a Diploma from the Institute of Jewish-Christians Studies.

Pastor Barrientez truely believes in providing biblical education in a systematic fashion. As a result has founded Harvest Bible Institute the educational body for our Leadership Institute and Ministers In Training (MIT) for The Lord’s Harvest Community Church.
