Panera Bread- Its New to ME
Dr Juan P Barrientez II | April 14, 2008Last Tuesday after I left the doctor office, I decided to stop by Panera Bread. We had heard good things about the food, but never had stopped to try it for ourselves. The biggest reason is, no drive through. Although, for most people this is not a problem, but with three children any outing can be an adventure.
One thing I realized about myself is I do not like new places. I guess that’s apart of being human… we like familiarity. This is not to say that we should never doing anything different. Actually, I once heard someone say that, “To get different results, you have to change what you are doing.” I think that speaks for itself. Doing new things means we have to get out of our comfort zones.
A survey of people revealed that entering into a new environment, such as going to a doctor, entering an office, or a public place (like church) is one of the most fear things we do. This was only next to public speaking, which I can understand. Some people chose not to go to church for this same reason … it can be scary. If you are in church you might not understand this thought. Strange people coming up to you, wanting to shake your hand … service is going on and you don’t understand what’s going on … wanting to sing with the church, but you don’t know the word, so you just mouth it … being asked to stand and give us your name and your church home. That last one gets me …
One thing we’ve tried to do is not scare people and make them feel apart of the worship service. I tell people all the time, “If you don’t enjoy the worship service, I will never directly ask you to come again.” …. an Panera Bread … it was worth the stop! hmmm hmmm good.
