The first session of “Catch the Vision” will be this saturday @ 2pm (January 19, 2008). It is a great way for you to learn about The Lord’s Harvest Community Church. These classes are required for membership, but also provided an opportunity for people learn about us.

We don’t usually promote a series early, but I was lead to do so this week. We actually will be ending the current series this coming saturday, but we will continue in the same book of the bible. I believe that what was written almost 2000 years ago in the letter is still relevant for us today.

The other day I was some what reminded that I have a birthday next month. I will be turning 33 for those of you who were wondering. I began to think about where I am in life and if I have accomplished anything worth anything.

Well, I think I have. I am not rich, but have all I could want. I have a loving wife, 3 daughters, that love their daddy. A niece that I have watched grow up, and I would like to think I had something to do with her up bringing. I have a job, which frees me to focus on what God has called me to do. I think it would be very difficult for me lead the church in God’s direction, with God’s timing, having to work full-time and completing course work for seminary.

Have I accomplished anything in life? I think so….BUT God has sooooo much more for me to do with the time I have left. Since I don’t know how much time I have left in this life, looks like I better get busy.

Do you feel accomplished in your life?

This past saturday we had such a blessed time in the Lord. His presence was made know and the prise was high. I am one who believe that we should not be driven by our emotions ONLY, when we talk about worship. But when I think about the goodness of God, I get emotional. I was so much into God, I almost forgot about offering time!!!

I want to thank Vincent Roland of Mt Calvary Baptist Church, who stopped by and blessed us with an on time  song….whatever God said… he will do it!!!…. The whole service just spoke to my spirit and was confirmation about the path God has me on. It is all about the harvest!!!

This coming saturday, I will be continuing on the theme of the new year and starting off right. Not only is Jesus the essential key to starting off right in this new year, but God wants us to think about “Making the Right Changes.” Changes in this life will happen whether you want them to or not, but what changes are you going to make?

Starting Off Right
John 1:1-5

Premise: God birth time with his word and we should start off right, with his word.

Objective: Examine how the beginning, begun and the example God gives us for beginnings.

Scripture: John 1:1-5

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

Definitions:

• Was (verse 1) - conveys continuous or timeless existence
• With God (pros ton theon) - Pros  with the direct object (God) presents a plane of equality and intimacy, face to face with each other. Denotes motion towards, or direction, is also often used in the New Testament in the sense of with; and that not merely as being near or beside, but as a living union and communion; implying the active notion of fellowship.

Key points:

• God began with his word (Jesus). (v1)

• God’s word is eternal
• God’s word leads to fellowship with him.
• God’s word shows us his very essences.

• Jesus can make a year of nothingness have purpose. (vv2-3)

• God’s word is active.
• God’s word possesses life (zo?e)?

• We can’t see what the year holds, so “Walk with the Light.”

“Catch the Vision” is our informational and membership class. It is a great way for you to learn about The Lord’s Harvest Community Church and the direction God has me leading the church.

The first three sessions are open to anyone, however the fourth is a closed session. These classes are required for membership, but also provided an opportunity for people learn about us. Each session will be held on the respective saturday @ 2pm (Be 15 mins early).

1. January 19, 2008 - An overview of the gospel message, baptism, and the nature of the church (Session 1)
2. January 26, 2008 - A general overview of The Lord’s Harvest Community Church’s past, present, and future; and our affiliation with Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International (Session 2)
3. February 2, 2008 - Our core values, beliefs, membership covenant, and pastoral covenant (Session 3)
4. February 9, 2008 - You will fill out a personal profile sheet and a spiritual gifts inventory (Session 4)
