New Design

Dr Juan P Barrientez II | August 30, 2007

We recently updated the design on our website. Well in the course of doing so, we had some unforeseen problems. We are happy to announce that the issues with the audio for our bible studies has been corrected.

Please stop by and take a look, and sign up for an account.

This coming Saturday we will be touching on the subject of fasting, as we prepare for the announcement of our weekly church prayer request and fasting.

Prayer- Delay is not Denial

Dr Juan P Barrientez II | August 28, 2007

Prayer- Delay is not Denial

Key Verse: Daniel 10:12, “Then he said to me, “Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words.”

Scripture Text: Daniel 10:1-14

1 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a message was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar. The message was true, but the appointed time was long; and he understood the message, and had understanding of the vision. 2 In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks. 3 I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.
4 Now on the twenty-fourth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, that is, the Tigris, 5 I lifted my eyes and looked, and behold, a certain man clothed in linen, whose waist was girded with gold of Uphaz! 6 His body was like beryl, his face like the appearance of lightning, his eyes like torches of fire, his arms and feet like burnished bronze in color, and the sound of his words like the voice of a multitude.
7 And I, Daniel, alone saw the vision, for the men who were with me did not see the vision; but a great terror fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves. 8 Therefore I was left alone when I saw this great vision, and no strength remained in me; for my vigor was turned to frailty in me, and I retained no strength. 9 Yet I heard the sound of his words; and while I heard the sound of his words I was in a deep sleep on my face, with my face to the ground.
10 Suddenly, a hand touched me, which made me tremble on my knees and on the palms of my hands. 11 And he said to me, “O Daniel, man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for I have now been sent to you.” While he was speaking this word to me, I stood trembling.
12 Then he said to me, “Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words. 13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia. 14 Now I have come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the vision refers to many days yet to come.”

Definition:

  • Humble - marked by meekness or modesty; not arrogant or prideful
  • Prince of the kingdom of Persia – A high-ranking demon and/or demonic spirit with the charge of overseeing the kingdom of Persia (See Ephesians 6:11-13 for examples of various ranks of angelic beings).

Key Points:

  1. Prayer is part of humbling ourselves to God. Daniel fasted, he allowed God to use him, and he was a man greatly beloved (v11) by God. The angel was released by God to bring Daniel an answer because of his words (prayer).
  2. Prayer is a type of spiritual warfare. It is a tool God has equipped us with to advance his kingdom purpose.
  3. The heavenly hosts (angels) are working behind the scene on our behalf. The angel said, “I have come because of your words. ..14 Now I have come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the vision refers to many days yet to come.”

How to Pray

Dr Juan P Barrientez II | August 21, 2007

How to Pray

Key Scripture: Luke 11:1-4, Matthew 6:5-15

(Matthew 6:5-15)

5 “And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 6 But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. 7 And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.
8 “Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. 9 In this manner, therefore, pray:

Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. 13 And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

14 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

A Covenant with God, One Another, and Our Pastor

Dr Juan P Barrientez II | August 7, 2007

A Covenant with God, One Another, and Our Pastor
by Bill Allison

1. I pray specifically and consistently for our pastor.

I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. (I Timothy 2:1-2)

2. I give freely of my time and talents so that our pastor can direct the affairs of the church—rather than doing the entire ministry alone.

The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor… (I Timothy 5:17)

3. I give cheerfully and liberally to God to provide for the physical and material needs of our pastor’s family.

The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching. For the Scripture says, “Do not muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain,” and “The worker deserves his wages.” (I Timothy 5:17-18)

4. I refuse to listen to or spread gossip about our pastor.

Do not entertain an accusation against an elder unless it is brought by two or three witnesses. (I Timothy 5:19 See also Proverbs 17:4)

5. I lovingly and privately correct our pastor when there is sin.

If a brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. (Matthew 18:15)

6. I do everything in my power to make sure our pastor flourishes in family relationships (spouse and children).

If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church? (I Timothy 3:5)

7. I obey and submit to the leadership and oversight of our pastors.

Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you. (Hebrews 13:17)
